Conquering My Dreams: Bucket List

I am putting my Bucket List out there to hold myself accountable (at least social media accountable) to go after experiences and things I want in life. This list is not in any particular order, and will constantly be changing and growing as I am introduced to new things and participate in new life experiences. Some items are going to be easier than others to accomplish, but I am excited for this adventure.

Take Part In A Life-Changing Experience (Conquered!)

* I volunteered for the “Illinois Miss Amazing Pageant”, which was a beauty pageant for girls with Special Needs. I spend about 3 days total getting to know the family, practicing, and spending the entire pageant day preparing for the nighttime event. Through hair, makeup, formal gown, talent performance and more, I have never been so humbled/inspired/awestruck by an auditorium full of people. The parents/audience members were so supportive of every girl and there was not a single dry eye in the auditorium, including the “big macho” camera men who were there to volunteer their time. That entire auditorium honestly changed my perspective on life that day, and I believe every person should have to experience an experience like I did.

Fall In Love Without Holding Anything Back

 Skydive (Conquered!)

*This may be one of the most spontaneous things I have ever done. I got a call from a friend who casually said “Hey, want to go skydiving today?” and decided to just go for it. Within a two hour time frame from the call, I was in a plane ready for jump. It was the most exhilarating feeling and it was an awe moment I won’t forget.

Go An Entire Day Without A Single Negative Thought/Comment

Dance In The Rain (Conquered!)

*On my last day of vacation, it just so happened to have heavily rained in Arizona. So I grabbed two of my best friends and spent a solid hour running and jumping in puddles, playing fetch with their dog, and seeing who could kick splash water the furthest.

Go to Ireland

Conquer A Fear (Conquered!)

* I recently went on a trip to San Diego, California and got into the ocean! Fish are my worst fear in the entire world (bizarre I know), and to even get in the water where one could easily swim near me was a huge deal. One small baby step accomplished towards getting rid of my fish fear entirely.

Get Into A Graduate School (Conquered!)

* I am so excited to say that this HUGE goal on my bucket list was conquered! I started graduate school in Fall of 2014 to become a Speech Pathologist.

Flip A Tails Down Penny To A Heads Up To Give Someone Else Luck

 Own A Cat (Conquered!)
*
I got a blue tabby on July 18, 2012. I really believe that everything happens for a reason because he has helped me through so much in the last year! His name is Mufasa and he has a personality of a human rather than an animal.

Take My Grandparents On A Vacation Paid By Me

Do Something I Would Normally Be Shy To Do

 Watch A Meteor Shower

Write A Message In A Bottle And Set It Free (Conquered!)

*My best friends and I had a beach bonfire, drank a ton of wine, and wrote out our bucket lists and a letter to ourselves. When it was dark, we went to the edge of the rocks and threw it into the sea together. What we didn’t expect from this experience was how therapeutic it ended up being for all of us.

 Play With An Elephant (Conquered!)

*I have an entire blog post about this one because it was too incredible of a situation to not write about.

 Go To A Music Festival

 See The Northern Lights

 Hike A Mountain/Cliff

Go Ziplining

 Go On A Volunteer Trip

 Get A Tattoo (Conquered!)
* I have “This Too Shall Pass” on my right foot, and “Angel Wings” on my left wrist.

Be Completely Inspired By Something (Conquered!)

At 21 years old, I decided to go to Disney World for my last undergraduate college spring break. I was more excited than I should be for an adult, but I can honestly say this trip was incredibly inspiring to me. As I looked around at people young and old, I saw the same pure emotion of joy in both. I was so inspired by the carefree atmosphere and the ability for people to open up and enjoy the “magic” of it all. I danced in front of the castle like there was not a single care in the world, and that moment of not looking for approval from anyone or anything is the definition of inspiring to me.

 Leave A Waitress A 100% Tip (Conquered!)
* I am a waitress through college, and I understand how difficult your first days can be. I saw a really sweet new waitress struggling and knew she was the perfect person to do this for!

 Become Fluent in Sign Language

Go To An Award Show (Conquered!)

* I attended the 2013 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM in Las Vegas! It was like watching 15 mini concerts and absolutely worth the ticket price!

Go On A Date With Someone That Is Not My “Type”

 Buy A Record Player/Records (Conquered!)

*I was shocked on Christmas of 2013 to see that my mother and step father had helped me scratch this off the list! Not only did I receive the record player itself, I was also given my first record which was John Mayer’s “Continuum”.

Go to the pumpkin patch and carve a pumpkin. (Conquered!)

*Picking out the perfect pumpkin and stencil design to carve my pumpkin was such a blast! We watched the Disney Channel “Halloweentown” movies while we carved our pumpkins and we truly felt like young, carefree children.

 Go to Oneonta Gorge

  1. Hey
First, I wanna tell you how good your writing is, it is really interesting the way you see things in life. The way you describe little details reminds me a lot of me and it’s kinda addicting. Then, reading your bucket list really inspires me to do more and believing in a humanity with dreams and goals. I have a lot of goals and most of them seem impossible, but I know that one day i’ll conquer them all. Thanks for your writing and attention.
From Portugal I wish you the best!

    1. I am so sorry for the late delay, I lost the password to this site and am just now being able to respond. Although this was years ago, I am so thankful and fortunate that my writing and viewpoints resonates with someone, it makes the world feel a little less alone. Sending you all the love and light, and yes you can conquer anything you put your mind to.
